What is Eco School?
Most young people care deeply about environmental issues, and wish to make a positive change in the environment around them. The Eco Schools Programme provides an ideal way for fostering environmental awareness in the entire school in a way that links to many curriculum subjects.
Carr Primary School have celebrated 4 Green Flag achievements over recent years. In 2021-22 we aim to achieve our fifth green flag.

It’s that time of year again when we begin to grow vegetables to be harvested in the Autumn. We planted a wide variety of fruit and vegetables and hope they are successful. So far all is looking good and our pupils are taking such good care of all our seedlings.
As part of our Eco School topic transport we have been promoting more environmental ways to travel. We are all aware that our location does not lend itself to environmentally friendly ways to travel to and from school for most familites, however we did not want this factor to stop us promoting it.
By teaming up with Iain Sneddon from Sustrans we have provided our pupils with lots of knowledge on how to travel safely using enviromentally friendly ways. Iain provided workshops on
Hazel Thompson and Alex Swan from Drumbo and District Community Assosiation handing over some gardening tools as part of Live Here Love Heres Community Links. We are very grateful for these tools which will make it easier for the children to plant and look after their produce.
Mr Poots along with representatives from Live Here Love Here NI visited Carr Primary School to hear how we aim to use the grant money secured to enhance our school grounds. Pupils were keen to let Mr Poots know that we aim to improve biodiversity and to enhance our school gardens.
One of the topics we look at in eco club is healthy living. Take a look at the photos below to give you an idea of how both physical ans mental well being is promoted at Carr Ps.
