Geodesic domes are some of the strongest structures in the world. When you push on a dome from the top, the side or even by the wind, the force spreads all the way around the structure. This means the dome doesn't have any weak point. Every triangle helps support the others.
This afternoon the class worked in pairs to design and build a geodesic dome using cocktail sticks and jelly tots. Here are some photographs of their final creations.
