Carr School has been in existence, in one form or another, from before Victorian times, with the present building being built in 1931 to replace the original National School.
With modern additions and refurbishments in recent years our facilities are well equipped for education in the 21st century and consists of:
5 classrooms, all with interactive whiteboards;
A multi-purpose sports/assembly hall with fitted climbing frames and movable stage for performance arts;
A library, recently renovated by our parents;
An ICT resource area with pupil computers, laptops and iPads;
Sensory Walkway and area
A designated Outdoor Play Area for the Pre School and Foundation Stage children; and
Staffroom and office accommodation.
The outside area consists of hard play, grass and forest areas. The children in Primary One to Seven also have access to a purpose built adventure trail and play equipment including a table tennis table, table football, basketball, badminton and football nets during break and lunchtimes.
The outside area is also used extensively as an outdoor classroom. The outdoor classroom includes:
a polytunnel and bedded areas for children to cultivate their own plants and vegetables;
a bug hotel, hedgehog den and wildflower garden to allow the children to observe a wide range of living things; and
an outdoor reading circle.
